OVERVIEW: Renew Oregon is the campaign to move our state away from dirty, polluting energy to a clean energy economy. This is a multi-year effort to advance policy and significantly increase public support for addressing climate change, including pricing and capping carbon.

We can spur national action on climate change through state and regional policies that align environmental and economic objectives.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: As Fundraising and Special Projects Manager, you will be part of the core team advancing a highly ambitious plan to build the climate and clean energy movement in Oregon. You will report to the Campaign Director, lead fundraising programs and design and implement special projects that broaden support for climate action among key businesses and community leaders. This is a position with a lot of variety – it requires creative thinking, tenacity and a combination of fantastic people skills and careful attention to detail. Ideally, you are a highly motivated individual with prior campaign or nonprofit experience.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 60% fundraising; 30% business and civic leader outreach; 10% operations management.

  • Develop and implement fundraising programs including major donor outreach, small events, house parties, grant writing and business partnerships.

  • Coordinate with development staff at key partner organizations on collaborative foundation, corporate and individual donor fundraising efforts.

  • Cultivate relationships with small business leaders, civic leaders, and coalition partners.

  • Engage business and civic leaders to act as public messengers for the campaign – recruiting endorsers, deploying supporters in education and policy campaigns and coordinating with Renew staff on digital communications and earned media opportunities.

  • Plan and coordinate educational and fundraising events to grow the profile of the issue.

  • Oversee internal operations including invoicing, donor tracking and administrative systems.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-4 years fundraising, political campaign, event management or nonprofit experience.

  • Excellent writing skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to successfully relate to donors and community leaders from a wide range of backgrounds.

  • Goal-oriented; work well under deadlines; work independently and in team settings.

  • A commitment to details; ability to manage large amounts of information.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and travel within Oregon.

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs.

  • Is low-ego and high-output (like the rest of our team); likes working hard with a hard-working crew.
