OVERVIEW


Renew Oregon is the campaign to move our state away from dirty, polluting energy to a clean energy economy. This is a multi-year effort to advance policy and significantly increase public support for addressing climate change. We can spur national action on clean energy through state and regional policies that align environmental and economic objectives.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

As Field Coordinator, you will part of the core team implementing a highly ambitious plan to build the climate movement in Oregon. The Field Coordinator will report directly to the Organizing Director and will implement the campaign’s base building and leadership development program to engage grassroots volunteers and leaders statewide. Ideally, you are a high motivated and politically driven individual that has a passion for progressive issues and an investment in positive change for our environment and beyond. Core duties include:

  •  Recruit and train volunteers and volunteer leaders to be part of ongoing climate and clean energy education and policy campaigns.

  • Engage leaders of community organizations, civic associations, faith communities and other

  • groups to educate and activate their members on Renew Oregon priorities.

  • Plan and execute action-oriented events and activities that draw in new supporters.

  • Identify stories of supporters who can act as spokespeople and be profiled publicly.

  • Write and execute a work plan to advance Renew Oregon campaign and policy goals.

  • Ensure data is collected and entered in a timely and accurate fashion.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of experience in grassroots, campus, or campaign organizing work

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to successfully work with volunteers from a wide

  • range of backgrounds.

  • Ability to identify volunteer leaders, set priorities and move teams of volunteers in line with our

  • goals and strategic direction.

  • Ability to work independently and in team settings.

  • Commitment to working long and irregular hours (including evenings and weekends) as needed.

  • Goal-oriented and able work well under pressure.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs.

  • Proficiency in VAN and/or NationBuilder preferred but not necessary.

  • A commitment to data and a love of people.

  • Ability to travel across the state extensively and often

  • Low-ego and high-output. Has fun working hard with a hard-working crew.
